Mary Ann McMillan Miller passed away February 26, 2015 in Mineral Wells, Texas. Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Reverend Lianne Turner will officiate. Mary Ann was 90 years old. She was born November 26, 1924 in Parker County to Cleopatra Smith McMillan and William Henry McMillan. She was a graduate of Mineral Wells High School. After graduation, she went to work at the Post Exchange on Camp Wolters where she met William Frank Miller while he was in basic training for WWII. They were married June 11, 1949 at Bethesda Methodist Church in Parker County. They were ranch managers for the Haltom Ranch where their daughters, Barbara Ann and Janet Kay were born. Then they moved to the Brazos Valley Ranch in southern Palo Pinto County where they were employed for a year before moving to the family farm in northern Palo Pinto County. She farmed this land with her husband until his death in 1982, and then continued to raise cattle there until 2010. She moved to Mineral Wells in 2010 where she resided at Lakewell House until her death. She was an active member of the Palo Pinto County Soil and Water District Board for 14 years. She and her husband were faithful members of First United Methodist Church and the Come Double Sunday School class. Preceding her in death were her husband, Billy Frank; her parents; her brothers, William Henry McMillan, Jr., Joseph Hampton McMillan; and niece, Joyce Adams Beadle. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara and husband Mike Murphy of Wichita Falls, Janet and husband Greg Talley of Arlington; grandchildren, Shane and Jason Murphy, Emily and Trevor Talley; sister, Margaret Adams of Muleshoe, Texas; nephew, Joseph Adams of Houston; and her constant companion, Cole, her cat. Pallbearers will be her sons-in law, Mike Murphy and Greg Talley, grandsons, Shane Murphy, Jason Murphy and Trevor Talley, and nephew, Joe Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 6657 FM 113 N, Weatherford, Texas 76088 or Mineral Wells Senior Center, 102 NW 6th Ave., Mineral Wells, Texas 76067. Her family would like to thank the staff at Lakewell House for the loving care they provided her for the last almost 5 years of her life. Also thanks to the staff of the PPGH ICU who provided care in the last days.
