Marilyn Joyce Lionberger "Mickey" passed from this life into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 17 at the age of 82. Mickey was diagnosed with lung cancer and told she had six months to live, but because her strong will to live and watch her great grandbabies each have another birthday. She lived for thirteen months. We don't really know when Marilyn became "Mickey" but that was how all her friends and family knew her, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her as "Mamaw".Mickey was born on March 14, 1932 in Tekamah, Nebraska to Charles and Frieda Jenson Fones, she married "Bill" Lionberger on November 10, 1952 and they spent the next 59 years together. Bill passed on October 20, 2012 just one year before her diagnosis. Mickey and Bill spend fifteen years traveling in their motorhome to visit the many friends and family who are scattered across the country, many of who installed RV hookups so they could stay with them for weeks at a time.Mickey is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jay and Maudie Lionberger of Oran, TX. and Jim and Joyce Lionberger of Hermleigh, TX. Grandchildren Misty Stekoll of Aledo, Crissy and Vann Orton of Weatherford, Christi and Wes VanRite of Austin, Justin and Keisha Head of Garner, Angie and Jerry Smith of Hermleigh and Shelia and O.L. Lane of Hermleigh. Great-grandchildren Marilyn and Marrion Stekoll, Orion Orton, Nicklus and Cody Head, Calvin, Amanda and Bryant Long and Douglas and Jacob Gilbert. Brother and sister-in-law Obie and Betty Lionberger of Garner. Sisters Charlene Fones of Oregon, Sue and Chester Mangen of Oregon, Kay and Norman Van Dyke of Oregon. Brothers Walter and Carol Fones of Oregon and Owen and Leola Goans of Oregon.Mickey was preceded in death by husband William "Bill" Lionberger, parents, brother Rodger Goans, sister Delores Henry and great-grandson Joshua Gilbert.The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Mission Hospice, especially Katie and Tiffany for all the love, wonderful care and support to Mickey and to us over the past months, you made a very difficult time easier.
