Margitta "Marge" Akimoto, born December 9, 1924, died peacefully in her sleep on July 4, 2018 after a full and blessed life. She was born in Stoessen, Germany, and grew up in Fritzlar and Homberg, Germany. She endured WWII as a teenager, was drafted into the German labor service working on a farm and then in a cargo aircraft manufacturing plant. In 1944 she began an internship to become a pharmacist, eventually becoming a pharmacist assistant. In 1949 she met her future husband, Ralph Akimoto, an American soldier stationed in Fritzlar. They married in Washington, D.C. in 1954. The Army took them to Ft Bragg, NC where she became an American citizen, Verdun, France, and Ft. Wolters, TX. She worked for many years as a medical receptionist in the offices of Dr. O'Quin and Dr. Boya. After retirement she volunteered with the Red Cross at Palo Pinto General Hospital, the Boyce Ditto Public Library, and her beloved St Mark Lutheran Church.Margitta is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Morgan of Fairfax, VA, and Bettina Akimoto of San Antonio, TX, as well as her son-in-law Colonel (US Army Ret) Marc Morgan and four grandchildren; Major (US Army) Marcus Morgan stationed in Japan with wife Noriko, Elizabeth and husband Captain (US Army) Erik Criman stationed in Hawaii, Kelly Morgan of Fredericksburg VA, Casey Akimoto of San Antonio, and two great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be 10:30AM Saturday July 14, 2018 at St Mark Lutheran Church followed by internment at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells.
