Margaret Joyce Galloway Martin, 91, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. Her surviving family grieves the loss of it's matriarch, but rejoices in the knowledge she is dancing with her husband and reuniting with other loved ones in Heaven. Joyce was born in Mineral Wells, TX on April 2, 1924, to Oscar and Lou Ella Lively Galloway, She married Raymond Lee Martin Jr. in 1941, and their 70-year union produced 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. As a grandmother, Joyce was nicknamed "Mamu," the name she would be affectionately called by her family for over 50 years. Mamu was the rock of her family, leading by example rather than lecture. Her routines were legendary: she could be found washing clothes on Mondays, grocery shopping on Wednesdays, and cooking the best pot of beans you've ever tasted every Friday. A Valentine card packed with $1 arrived in each grandchild's mailbox every year, a tradition she continued with her great grandchildren as well. She baked first birthday chocolate cakes for grandchildren and great grandchildren and never forgot a birthday. Joyce Martin was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son-in-law, Charlie Myrick. She is survived by her children Margarett Renfro, Nancy and Chuck Buzbee, Sandy Myrick, and Randy and Laura Martin; grandchildren Kim Renfro and Bruce Gilbert, Ellen Tabor, Blair and Rebecca Renfro, Byron Renfro, Martin and Michelle Buzbee, Clint and Angie Myrick, and Lance and Janalee Martin; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
