Mamie E. Clark died March 31, 2013 at her home in Palo Pinto, Texas. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Palo Pinto, Texas at 10 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 with Rev. Jim Dodd and Rev. Ferel Gage officiating. Burial will follow in Palo Pinto Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Jimmy Goen, James Lyon, John Thornton, Rex Mansell, Roger Roberson, and Terry Thornton. The honorary pallbearers will be Lester Beaty, John Brooks, and Cy Gibson. The child of John A. and Nancy Moranda Estes, Mamie was born in Palo Pinto County and was a life-long resident. To all who knew her, Mamie was a Christian woman, a loving wife and mother, and a good and gracious friend to all. She became a member of First Baptist Church in Palo Pinto, Texas in 1931 and served her Lord faithfully until her death on March 31, 2013. It was at First Baptist Church that she married John A. "Dude" Clark on December 24, 1934. They had a loving marriage of sixty-three years. Mamie was a homemaker who reared her children in a Christian home. After her children were grown, she worked at the Post Office in Palo Pinto, first as a clerk and then for twenty years as Post Master. Mamie worked long hours to serve all her customers in the best possible way. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, several brothers, her husband "Dude", and her dearly loved son: John Arthur "Buddy" Clark. She is survived by her daughter: Linda Clark of Palo Pinto, grandchildren: Ginger Lynn Duke and husband Joe of Fredericksburg, Texas, Rue Ann Mowles and husband Charlie of Palo Pinto, Texas, and James E. "Jimbo" Dulaney and wife Holly of Palo Pinto, Texas, great-grandchildren: Tiffany Jo Duke of Fontana Dam, North Carolina, Daisha Duke of Fredericksburg, Texas, Leeza McBride and husband Matt of Pleasant Valley, Texas, Silver Lynn Allen of Palo Pinto, Texas, James Dulaney of Oklahoma, Kimberly Thompson and husband Clay of Oklahoma, Chelsea Mowles, Corra Mowles, and Charles Daniel Mowles of Palo Pinto, Texas, great-great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Marie Thompson, Riley Nicole Thompson, Jaycee Peyton McBride, Matthew Dillon McBride, and Shane McBride, and many other relatives as well as many friends who helped and supported her in her last days. Special thanks go to Jeanette Johnson without whom it would have been impossible for her to stay in her own home.
