Mabern “Blackie” Blackwood of Mineral Wells, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Graveside services will be 1 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas. Mabern was born April 12, 1941 in Keller, Texas to Doc Mabern and Mary Ruthie Jane Smith Blackwood. He served in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Mabern was a lifelong truck driver. His hobbies included working on cars, singing and playing the guitar, and riding motorcycles. Family was important to Mabern. He never missed the opportunity to brag on his kids or grandkids. Many kids adopted him as their own earning him the nickname “Pops”. Mabern had a huge heart and will be missed by so many. Mabern was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: George, Freeman, Roy, and Dub, sisters: Fannie, Lillie, and Margie, wives: Marlene and Jo Ann, and daughter: Torchie. He is survived by his sons: Mabern(Karla) of Burkburnett, Andrew of Mineral Wells, daughters: Cassie Jo of Mineral Wells, Vivian Weaver of Jacksonville, Jackie Stafford of Huntsville, daughter-in-law: Michelle Pulliam of Brownwood, sisters: Lena Ary of Keller, Dorra Young of Haltom City, grandchildren: Chelsea, Kaylee, A.J.(Brittany), Mariann, Cody, Jerrell, Stephanie, Hailey, and twins Kenny and Andy, great-grandchildren: Leland, Bryson, and new arrival due March 2022, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly.
