Lorraine M. McFarland

Lorraine M. McFarland, 96, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at her home. She was born the sixth of eight children on July 7, 1923, to John and Mary "Lula" Hearn Miles, in Mineral Wells. Lorraine met her husband, AJ McFarland, while he was stationed at Fort Wolters after he heard her sing on the radio. She was loving, she never knew a stranger and would make everyone feel welcome."Playgirl" is what Lorraine liked to call herself. She bowled, golfed, played tennis, and softball. She played golf till she was 88. Lorraine also played cards and was the last of the Ol Biddies. She was a charter member of Holiday Hills Country Club (HHCC) and a member of the Ladies Golf Assoc.Survivors include her daughters, Myra Johnson and husband Wayne and Susie Harwell; grandchildren, James Flowerree and Lori Gardner and husband Rob; great-grandchildren, Jordan Nicodemus and husband Kale, Jaycee Flowerree, Megan Meyer, and Melinda Meyer; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 3 at First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells. Burial will follow at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Renew Home Health, Solaris Hospice, the 3rd floor nurses at Palo Pinto General Hospital and the careflight medics who brought her home. They were all loving, kind and made her feel special.
