Lloyd Denman "Rooster" Daugherty, 74, of Mineral Wells, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday at the Ballew Springs Baptist Church with burial at the Ballew Springs Cemetery. Rev. Greg Willis will officiate, Whitt Masonic Lodge will provide graveside rites and burial will be with military honors. Pallbearers will be J. R. Stephens, Brian Kirkland, Scooter Stephens, Frank Dison, Joshua Jones, Kris Keeling, Kaleb Keeling and Jason Morse. Mr. Daugherty was born October 16, 1935 in Abernathy, Texas the son of James Morgan and Mary Jefferys Daugherty and was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He was raised on a farm and ranch, was a combat veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars serving in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He lived in Mineral Wells since 1966 and was a member of the Ballew Springs Baptist Church. He married Mary Lou Irvin and owned and operated the D & R Water Well Service and Supply for ten years. Prior to that he worked for the City of Mineral Wells as Maintenance Foreman and Water and Sewer Superintendent. He was a life member of the Whitt Masonic Lodge. He will leave a huge hole in our community and our lives until we are united again. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Daugherty; daughters, Cammie Martin, Connie Greenlee, Judy Kirkland, Jennie Dison and Leish South; son, Ronald Daugherty; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
