Lindol Owen Watson, 94, of Mineral Wells, passed away July 30. Graveside services will be held at New Gordon Cemetery on Saturday, August 2, at 2 p.m. Arrangements handled by Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. He was born January 12, 1920, in Santo, Texas to Edwin Tarver and Madge Waldrop Watson. He was the youngest of five siblings, all of whom preceded him in death: Hubert Watson, Dick Watson, Bob Watson, and Glennis Watson Adams. After graduating from Santo High School, he served proudly in the United States Navy from 1942-45 as an Aviation Machinist Mate, First Class. A World War II veteran, he was a member of "The Greatest Generation." He received his bachelor's degree from North Texas State University and his master's degree from Texas Christian University. A retired educator, he served as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in the school districts of Gordon, Graford, Strawn, Azle, and Mineral Wells. He married Mary Evelyn Segars of Gordon on May 11, 1943. In addition to his wife of 71 years, he is survived by daughters Sandra Crawford and husband Don of Mineral Wells, and Diana Hinkson and husband Bill D. of Strawn; six grandchildren: John Crawford and wife Julie, Jeff Crawford and wife Sara, Jana Crawford Rhoades and husband Clayton, Joe Hinkson and wife Kinsey, Matt Hinkson, and William Hinkson; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tri-City EMS, P.O. Box 271, Gordon, TX 76453 or any Palo Pinto County Meals on Wheels. The family would like to extend special thanks to the PPGH Hospice nursing staff and the third floor nursing staff.
