Lewis Eugene (Gene) Hardy, 89, passed away August 10, 2014 in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born October 23, 1924 in Duncan, Oklahoma; the son of Thomas Franklin and Gladys Mae Smith Hardy. He married Mary Clay on August 8, 1953 in Perrin and she preceded him in death on November 20, 1990. He married Betty Haire Dagley on April 9, 1998 in Weatherford, Texas. Gene was a member of the Perrin Community Church. He worked as a Supervisor at PECO until retirement in 1990. Gene was a longtime resident of Perrin where he spent much of his life farming and ranching. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. Services will be 2 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Perrin. Burial will follow in Perrin Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. He is survived by his wife: Betty Hardy of Perrin, children: Martha Gifford of Perrin, David Hardy of Perrin, Kyle Norton of Nevada, grandchildren: Alicia Gomez, Gaston Hardy, Makenzie Hardy and Blakeny Terry, great-grandchildren: Rylee and Camryn, step-children: Laura Teafatiller and John Dagley, and numerous other family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and one great-grandson.
