Leslie Thomas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on September 26, 2023, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 46.
Leslie was born on October 26, 1976, in Jacksonville, Texas, and while she began her journey there, she raised her loving family in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Throughout her life, Leslie embodied the qualities of love, dedication, and unwavering support. She was the loving wife of Roberto DeSantiago for 28 years, a union built on love and commitment that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Leslie was a devoted mother to five children: Allen Thomas, Casey Eller, Matthew Hurst, Alexis DeSantiago, and Brightin DeSantiago. Her heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren: Braelyn Eller, Dawsyn Eller, Olivia Lemond, Meara Zurlo, Alaska Eller, Emberlin Eller, and Banks McDonald. Leslie was the epitome of an exceptional "MeMe" who showered her grandchildren with affection and joy.
In addition to her role as a dedicated family woman, Leslie had a passion for photography and crafting, particularly during her favorite time of the year, Christmas. She found immense joy in decorating and creating crafts for the holiday season, and her festive spirit brought happiness to all who shared in her celebrations.
Above all else, Leslie's greatest love was her family. She was a fierce and loving mom, always putting the needs of her children and grandchildren first. Her lively spirit, unconditional love, and boundless support were constants in the lives of those she held dear.
Leslie had a heart filled with kindness and generosity. She eagerly extended her hand to help anyone who needed it, demonstrating compassion that touched the lives of many. She was an incredible friend who would go to great lengths for her friends, always there to lend a listening ear and a helping hand. Her family takes great comfort in the fact that she passed away in the same hospital that she gave birth to her son, who proceeded her in death. Their reunion brings us peace.
Per Leslie's wishes, there will not be a funeral or service. Instead, the family encourages you to remember her in your own way, by sharing stories, memories, and moments of joy.
Leslie is survived by her loving husband, Roberto DeSantiago; her sons, Allen Thomas, Casey Eller, Brightin DeSantiago; her daughter, Alexis DeSantiago (McDonald); her adoring grandchildren; her mother, Gail Smith; her sister, LaDonna Dodd; her mother and father-in-law, Juan and Leonor DeSantiago; her siblings-in-law, Angelica and Armando Loredo, Maria DeSantiago (Ramos) and Luis Ramos, Mario and Tara DeSantiago, Jose and Claire DeSantiago, and many nieces and nephews whom she cherished deeply. She is also preceded in death by her son, Matthew Hurst, and her brother-in-law, Juan DeSantiago.
Leslie's presence will be greatly missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice, whose charity ultimately made her comfortable during her final day, or to a charity of your choice that supports those in need during the holiday season.
