Lesia Marie Jones

 Lesia Marie Jones, the daughter of Rachel and Winston Jones, was born on March 20, 1961.  She was the joy of their lives.  Lesia departed this life on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Kindred Memorial Hospital in Arlington, TX.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, TX.  Lesia’s love for Christ led her to participate in the youth choir as well as other church activities. Prayer and Faith sustained her throughout her journey.

Lesia had an infectious personality and made an indelible mark on those that she met.  She was personable, compassionate and very opinionated!  You never had to guess where Lesia stood on anything.

Lesia received her formal education in the Mineral Wells Independent School District.  In spite of her intellectual challenges, she worked very hard to master her prescribed coursework.  Her mother made every effort to ensure that she received whatever was needed to assist in her growth.

Several years later, Lesia moved to the Lubbock State School.  At the school, she developed life and social skills that prepared her to experience employment outside of the school facility. During this time, she also made many friends and was well respected by staff and students.  There was no doubt that many of the students saw her as a leader and valued her opinion. 

Many of Lesia’s pastimes included eating, listening to music, dancing, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.  If you knew Lesia, you knew that she was a Dallas Cowboy fan----win or lose.  She always wore Dallas Cowboy paraphernalia and her entire room was decorated with Cowboy accessories.  Lesia loved to talk, but if the Cowboys were playing she was quiet, and you had to be quiet too!

Upon the passing of Lesia’s mother, Lesia requested to be moved from Lubbock closer to her cousin, Hella Mayberry , who always had a special place in her heart.  Lesia’s request was granted and she was placed in a caring group home in Arlington, TX under the care of Marcie Frazier, who Lesia referred to as Mom.  

Lesia leaves to mourn her passing, special cousins, Hella Mayberry and Lois Lane, Marcie Frazier, her friends at the group home and a host of relatives and friends. Her parents, Rachel and Winston Jones along with her grandparents, Viola and Joe Ogwin welcomed her to her new heavenly home.

Graveside services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells.
