Leonardo Sanchez, Jr. of Mineral Wells, TX died peacefully September 23rd. Rosary will commence at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home 9/30 @6:30pm. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 10/1 @10am. Kindly wear your mask for services. Burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
Leonardo Sanchez, Jr. was born January 5, 1931 in McAllen, Texas to Leonardo Sanchez, Sr. and Librada (Lillie) Franklin. A veteran of Korean and Vietnam Wars, Sergeant First Class Sanchez proudly served the United States Army, retired with E7 rank. During his 24 years of service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, 6 Good Conduct Medals, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Medical Badge and 3 O/S Bars. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for many blessed years in Mineral Wells, TX.
Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ortiz Sanchez, his newborn daughter Sandra, his parents, brothers Juan, Miguel, & Hugo. Sisters Blanquita & Rosalinda, as well as other dear friends and family members.
He is survived by his children Lee Jr., Mariano, Adrianna, Sonny, Ethel, Sandra, Mary, Dale, Albert, and Russell. His sisters Blanca & Amanda, and brother Oscar. Additionally, he had 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, dear friends and neighbors.
A man of faith, principle and great humor is how loved ones describe him. A man of honor, dignity and sacrifice is how his country will remember him. His love and spirit will transcend generations to come.
Memorials may be sent to Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. The Sanchez family wishes to extend sincere thanks for all prayers received, our church brothers and sisters, military heroes and healthcare responders in every community.
