Leigh Perry Payne passed away on January 30, 2025 surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 22, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Marney and Doris Perry. She graduated from Mineral Wells High School and met the love of her life and husband of 58 years Donald Payne at the Dairy Queen. She prioritized her family above all else and in her younger years she enjoyed working in her yard and took great pride in keeping her home spotless. In her later years she loved watching the birds and found comfort every time she saw cardinals always saying her mother and grandmother were coming to visit.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband Donald and her daughters Cheryl (James) Hale, and Kimberly (Brandon) Hendrickson, grandchildren Riley (Jeff) Lashley, Jacob Hale (fiancé Hannah), Cassidy (Cody) Wiederholt, Baylee (Jett) Reeves and Brett Grinder (Shelby), Emma and Ava Hendrickson, great-grandchildren Jaylyn, Jameson, Jordyn, Audrey, Lane, and Colt, sisters Laine Perry and Doris (Mike) McConnell, and nieces Megan (Jake) Baird and Morgan (Jacob) Garcia.
We would like to acknowledge 4 special people who helped care for our mother and were a blessing and a comfort to her as her health declined Stephanie, Delfina, Jennifer, and Tamara, and a very special friend who is family to us all Sue Wiggs.
The family will be having a private graveside service at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells, TX on Thursday, February 6 at 2 PM.
The family would also like to acknowledge Beyond Faith Hospice care who helped care for Leigh in her last days.
