Lavern Sain

Lavern Edwards Sain passed away on September 29, 2015. Visitation will be Friday 6-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be Saturday 2pm at Baum Carlock Bumgardner; burial will follow at Holders Chapel Cemetery. Lavern was born in Brownfield where she met and married Jesse Lee Edwards on June 11, 1948. They settled in Mineral Wells where Lavern worked at the Fort Wolters Base. Lavern earned her nursing degree and worked for many years at Palo Pinto General Hospital in ICU. Jesse Edwards passed in 1998 after 50 years of marriage. Lavern was active at the senior center. She was a member of the Silver Notes Choir. Lavern met her second husband, James Sain and they were married June 17, 2003. They lived in Mineral Wells until James passed in 2014. She leaves behind sons, Jesse Alan Edwards and wife Patsy and Ricky Lee Edwards and wife Kim; brother Donald Wayne Barton and wife Retha Maxine, sisters Leta Herring, Maxine Shupp, Shirlene Hungerford and husband Howard; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Vera (Ammons) Barton, 2 husbands, 3 brothers, daughter Debbie Edwards-Creech and son Larry Dale.
