Lanore Wilder Hughes, age 91, passed Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in Sterling House Assisted Living in Weatherford. For most of her life she was Mineral Wells resident and a faithful member of North Oak Church of Christ. She and her husband, Charlie Hughes, owned and operated a grocery store in Mineral Wells for many years before she became an elementary teacher in Santo, Texas. Services will be 10 AM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at North Oak Church of Christ with Bryan Reagan officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Lanore is survived by two daughters, Gail Shewmake of Weatherford and Millie Hughes-Fulford of San Francisco. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Charles Shewmake of Ft. Worth, Kenneth Shewmake of Irving, Heather Shewmake of Grand Prairie, and Tori Herzog of San Francisco as well as four great grandchildren. Lanore grew up during the Great Depression but was able to see all of her children and surviving family reach achievements that she was able to share and experience with them.
