Kenneth Wayne Chastain, 92, a loving husband and father, was called to be with the Lord on September 20, 2021.
Kenneth was born in Brazos, TX, the son of Jesse and Willie Faye Chastain on January 5, 1929. As a young lad, he attended Dobbs Valley Church along with his parents. He was drawn to the Lord and was baptized in a nearby earth tank. He attended grade school in Brazos and high school in Santo.
He left high school at an early age to seek a job in the oil fields of West Texas to help support his mother and father. He was employed by Northern Natural Gas Company and had to locate in Liberal, KS where he spent several years. During his employment and several transfers to other locations, he was promoted to Plant Maintenance Supervisor and ended up in Midland, TX. After several more years in West Texas, he decided to return to the area he knew and loved most. He bought a home on Lake Palo Pinto where he lived for 20 years before moving to Mineral Wells. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working in his yard and garden. He also did a lot of carpenter work for friends and neighbors from remodeling a home, building patios, decks, docks, small items of furniture and crafts. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed frying fish for anyone that happened by.
Kenneth was a member of the Supreme Council Scottish Rite (Dallas) and was awarded a 32nd degree in master masonry. He was a lifetime member in the Grand Lodge of Texas, Olive Branch #792, Brock, TX with 50+ years of service. Kenneth also served on the Board of Directors at Dobbs Valley Cemetery. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells and was active in the Primetime seniors group. He was also a member of the Mineral Wells Senior Citizens.
