Kay Branson Long, 71, passed away December 25, 2012 in a Jacksboro hospital. She was born September 6, 1941 in Mineral Wells the daughter of Marion Hascue and Cleo Key Branson. She married Eugene Ray Long on July 3, 1966 in Jack County. She was a member of Lone Camp Baptist Church. She was in the Eastern Star Lipan #530 and Santo # 127, and was a faithful and active member of both chapters. She graduated from Santo High School in 1961 and attended Tarleton State University where she studied business. She was an administrative assistant for Cantex Industries for 15 years. She retired to become a full time mother in 1973. In 1980 she bought her first short horn bull and started a pedigreed herd. Services will be 2 PM Friday, December 28, 2012 at Lone Camp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Santo North Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Martin Buzbee, John Mayo, Brandon Taliferro, Gary Don Overton, Martin Rico, and Bryan Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Burden, David Wood, Don Cranford, and Harold Branson. Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home annex. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Tamara and Keith Martin of Jacksboro, granddaughter: Kayla Rae Martin of Jacksboro, and numerous cousins, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband on December 23, 2003.
