With her children and grandson by her side, Kathleen (Kathy) Nichols went home to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on March 6, 2020. Kathy was born on May 30, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, but her family moved to Texas when she was 3. She remained a Texan for the rest of her life. While raising 2 children, Kathy earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Kilgore College and nursing license in 1986. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Wesleyan University in 1991. She taught junior high for 3 years before returning to nursing. Kathy retired from the Granbury Care Center in 2015 where she developed deep connections with both co-workers and patients. In 2004, Kathy moved to Mineral Wells. She was drawn to this small town because of the historic Baker Hotel. She hoped to live long enough to see it fully restored, but was content to know that the Baker would soon return to its full glory. Kathy lived a full life as mother, grandmother, sister, friend, teacher and nurse. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in the yard and planting flowers, visiting NYC with her good friends, and being Grandma. Kathy is preceded in death by her beloved dog Christy. She is survived by her brother Richard Staley, son Richard Nichols, daughter Dana Nichols, and grandson Andrew Hagen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 11:00 am at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home at 302 W Hubbard St., Mineral Wells, Texas 76067."
