Katherine Louise Nicks went home to be with the Lord her Savior on November 21, 2011. Services will be held on Wednesday November 23, 2011 at 1pm at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home and her burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery. Katherine was born on April 28, 1921 to Donald Leslie Crosland & Louisa Moore Crosland of Pleasant Valley, Palo Pinto County. She graduated from Mineral Wells High School. During those High School years she had a passion for basketball & volleyball and became a star athlete in them both, winning awards and trophies. She and Roger Burns were married in 1941. While living in Portland, Oregon, their son Donald Wayne Burns was born in September 1944, then after returning to Texas, their daughter Linda Louise Burns Schultz was born in January 1950. She spent the early years of her marriage being a wonderful stay at home Mother and Wife. Her family was her greatest joy and she was a huge source of strength for each of us. She was always willing to sacrifice anything for the needs of her family, but more importantly, Katherine lived her life as the model Christian women. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church & First Baptist Church of Palo Pinto. She had a love for plants and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers. Katherine & Roger were married for 48 years before he passed away in 1989 from cancer. A couple of years later, Katherine reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Bill Nicks, at a Senior Citizen's Social and were married for 15 years. Katherine loved traveling with family & friends and got to see many beautiful places across the world. The family wants to express their sincere gratitude to LaDora Nursing Home and especially Community Hospice of Texas for their loving attention and care. Katherine is survived by her daughter Linda Burns Schultz and her husband Bob; grand daughter Leslie Robinson, her husband Brandon; grand daughter Casey Lobato, her husband Ray and her four great grandchildren Beckham, Campbell, Barrett & Elliot. You will always be in our hearts, we love you our precious Mom & Nanny!
