Karen Loretta Slate Melton

Karen Loretta Slate Melton passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2022. She was born December 3, 1958 in Brownwood, Texas. She married Bobby Gene Melton on December 1, 1978. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Melton; father, William Leo Slate; mother and step-father, Bessie and James McAllister; and brother, Randy Slate. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Michael Melton and wife Jana, Kayla Shoemake and husband Cody, Bradley Melton, Brittany Harris, and Jason Braim; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Gary Slate, Hannah Hestilow, Cathy McAllister, James McAllister, Jr., Rose McAllister, Marvin A. McAllister, and Deena Baker; sister-in-law, Janna Williamson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, Texas.
