Karen Ann Bond passed away December 26, 2024. She was born in Lubbock, TX on June 10, 1947. She was the daughter of Leslie Dean Bond, Sr. and Reita Barton Bond. Sister to Leslie Dean Bond, Jr., Charles Rodney Bond and Robert Lee Bond.
Karen retired from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) after a 30 year career as a Project Officer in the Superfund Division, and a purchasing agent in the Management Division. She was most passionate about her role as a Project Officer for the State of New Mexico and Tribes who loved working with Karen and appreciated her patience and expertise.
Karen had a passion for cooking and was always excited to share her culinary talents. She was especially proud of having the privilege to cook lunch each Sunday at St. Luke’s Church. She was a member of the Grand Prairie Woman’s Club, the Mineral Wells Women’s Club, the Grand Prairie Arts Council, and Friends of the Boyce Ditto Library. In addition, she was the regent for the Ralph Ripley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), volunteered on the Board of Directors for Hope, Inc. Woman Shelter, Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County, and was an auxiliary volunteer for Palo Pinto General Hospital in the emergency room. She loved to travel and enjoyed zip lining in Honduras and whale watching in Alaska. She was a very giving person and was always available to offer assistance for anyone in need.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing brother, Robbye, her niece Paige and husband Dylan Kuhne, great-nieces Sabine and Pearl Kuhne, Cheyenne McErlane and Piper Dahl. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will take place at St. Luke’s Church, 600 NW 6th Street, Mineral Wells, TX.
