Joesph Pickens Burson, 76 years old, peacefully went home to the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Joe was born February 24, 1948, in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was the son of Annie Stewart Burson Wilson and Japer Orval “Bud” Burson.
He married Shirley Nichols in 1966 and they had two girls; Rada and Janet’. He married Phyllis Nasche in 1972 where they raise their combined families of nine. Sandra Richard in 1982 and she had three children. Shirley Ray in 2022.
Joe was born and raised in Mineral Wells. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He had a hard fast life and left many memories. He lived twice as long as he ever thought he would.
Joe started his own contracting business in 1973. Then briefly worked in the oil field, finally went back to a contractor building PVC fence. In 1975 he started in the rental business with a one-bedroom house that came from, “Cedar Crest Lodge”, at PK lake. The only mistake he said he made was not buying all four houses. He continued to grow his rent business until 2006. After their retirement he and his wife Sandra went on 3-month vacation to Alaska. This was a longtime dream for both.
He is survived by his daughters, Rada Grimes with husband Cullen Jr, of Mineral Wells; Janet’ Fisher with husband Benny”, of Mineral Wells; stepsons, Michael Nasche, of Texarkana, Butch Richard with wife Donna, of Mineral Wells, Stewart Richard with wife Audrea, of Keota, OK. His stepdaughters, Sherry Nasche-Stout with husband Tony of Quitman, Carmella Nasche-Siegal with husband Vernon of Topeka, KS, Cathy Nasche-Deleon with husband Chris of Santa Anna, Patty Nasche-Kyle with husband Kirk of Texarkana. Brother: David Bruton with wife Grace, of San Antonio, Sister: Andrea Bruton Philips of Palestine. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Annie Wilson and Bud Burson, three wives-Shirley, Phyllis and Sandra, two brothers: Johnny Burson and Ricky Bruton.
We will celebrate Dad's life on Friday, February 7th, at 2pm at Indian Creek Baptist Church. Family lunch will be served at 11am. Visitation hours will be 12-2pm. Burial will follow at Staggs Prairie Cemetery in Mineral Wells.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial donation be made to Whitt Masonic Lodge # 624, P.O. Box 49., Whitt, Texas 76490.
