Jordan Forrest Bell

Jordan Forrest Bell, 88, passed away September 12, 2011 in Weatherford. He was born September 6, 1923 in Palo Pinto the son of Wiley and Ella Francis Gallagher Bell. He had three brothers and two sisters. On June 14, 1941, he married the love of his life, Billie Jo Cross. They were happily married for almost 60 years. Jordan was an extraordinary man-a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He lived simply and with great integrity. He was caring, loyal, trustworthy and courageous. He joined the Air Force in 1941. In 1942 at the age of 22 his plane was shot down and he was a POW in Romania. He retired in 1965. After he retired he was a flight instructor at Ft. Wolters, then a probation officer for the county, and finally the Veterans service officer. He was a member of the Palo Pinto Methodist Church and was a board member for many years. He was also a member of the DAV, VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge 1404, Ft.Worth Scottish Rite, Moslah Shrine, Palo Pinto Shrine Club, and the Bowling Club for 40 years retiring at the age of 85. Services will be 2 PM Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Palo Pinto United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry Holmes and Rev. Tom Beaty officiating. The music will be by Margie Holmes. Burial will follow in Palo Pinto Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 2-9 PM at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Alan Slemmons, Jesse Edwards, Rob Smith, Ray Price, Warren Kiel, and Butch Ernst. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife: Billie Jo. He is survived by his daughter Sue, granddaughters Jennifer (and Kevin) Sanders, Karen (and Sean) Gillen, Amy (and Price) Butler, great grandchildren Rebecca and Kimberly Sanders, Sean Gillen, Lilly and Maggie Butler, one sister and two sisters-in-law.
