Johnny Lee McKee, Sr. was reunited with his bride on December 4, 2023. He was born May 22, 1940 in Graford, Texas to L.C. and Josephine (Nowak) McKee. Johnny married Dolores Lowhorn on December 6, 1963 and the legacy began. “J.L.” was a jack of all trades and a master of them all. Although you could always find him either fishing or hunting, Johnny’s biggest accomplishment was his family. Family was more than just his seven kids, as he was known as “Dad/Papa” to so many who he loved dearly.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dolores McKee; brothers, Robert McKee and Jimmy McKee; sisters, Patsy Mitchell and Deanna Wakefield; granddaughter Amber Lindley; nephews, Randy McKee and Shane McKee. He is survived by children, Dana Lindley and wife Connie, Cindy Hall and husband Rodney, Johnny McKee Jr. and wife RJ, Stephanie McKee Lindbloom, Sandra Harris and husband Jamie, Amanda Hale and husband Matt, and Kevin McKee; twenty five grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Michael McKee and wife Melissa; sisters, Donna Lemley and husband Ronnie, Paula Rogoski and husband Joe, Peggy Kinder, Laura Lee and husband Royce; brothers in law; Jerry Mitchell and Eddie Wakefield; sister in law, Darlene Stevenson and husband Ronnie; best friend, Ronnie Shifflett; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and an entire community who he considered family.
Pallbearers Keith Hall, Mark Hall, Ty Nunley, Tad Jinkens, Trae Lindbloom, Justin Snell, Dustin Snell, Cameron McMillin, Peyton McKee, John Wayne McKee, Keegan Imboden, and Kip Gilmore. A graveside service will be held at McAdams Cemetery Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 2:00. The family is invited to lunch at The Sending House before the service starting at 11:30.
To know him, was to love him, and he never met a stranger.
