John Ritchie

John P. Ritchie, 90, attorney, banker and rancher passed away on May 30, 2018 in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was born on April 27, 1928, in Mineral Wells, the son of George Menefee Ritchie and Margaret Preston Ritchie. He married Ann Whatley on December 31, 1949 in Mineral Wells. He was a graduate of Mineral Wells High School, and earned a B.A. and a L.L.B. with Honors at the University of Texas in 1954. He practiced law in Fort Worth from 1954-1959. He returned to Mineral Wells to practice law. His son, Richard P. Ritchie, joined his firm in the 1990's. Believing in serving his community, Mr. Ritchie was the Attorney for the Palo Pinto County Water District for many years. He served as a Mineral Wells City Councilman, a past President of the Noon Lions Club, Captain of the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Posse, President of the County Bar Association, a member of the Mineral Wells Independent School District Board, and a member of the Board of Directors of Holiday Hills Country Club. Mr. Ritchie was a Director of the First National Bank of Mineral Wells. Later, he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of First State Bank of Mineral Wells. He was proud to be one of the original members of the Brazos Foundation. Mr. Ritchie is survived by his wife, Ann, his daughter Anne Street and her husband, Tony, his son, Richard Ritchie and his wife, Penny, granddaughters, Dr. Reagan Street, Shelby (Koby) Rogers, Leslie (Kevin) Robnett, and Lacie (Matt) Austin, and great grandchildren, Street Rogers, Rush Rogers, Eli Robnett, Cyrus Robnett, and Sky Austin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brazos Foundation, P.O. Box 901, Mineral Wells, Texas 76068.
