Donald Ray Price, 91, loving father, grandfather, and local historian, passed away September 19, 2021. He was born March 9, 1930 in Dallas, Texas.
Don graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1947 and attended Texas Christian University. From 1952-1955 he was a Staff Sgt in the National Guard serving in the 149th Armored Division. He loved the outdoors, be it fishing, hunting, or walking the Rails to Trails. Don was community minded and loved life. He managed Western Auto in Mineral Wells for many years as it was the family business from 1945-1983. Don was on the Boyce Ditto Community Library board for 20 years, loved to donate time at the Mineral Wells State Park, involved with the Texas Frontier Trails, and contributed to the Outdoors Along the Brazos column in the Mineral Wells Index.
Survivors include his sons, Marlin Price and Forrest Price both of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Scott Price of Mineral Wells, Billy Mullenix of San Antonio; several great-grandchildren; niece, Janelle Dry; as well as other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl “Cutter” Forrest Price and Jewel Eugenia Price and sister, Norma Hulliger.
Don will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday evening at the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church Mineral Wells with burial following at Woodland Park Cemetery.
