John W. Chambless 88 passed away Sept 19 in Mineral Wells, TX. following a brief illness.John was born Sept 9th 1930 in Salesville, TX. to Claude and Winnie (Smith) Chambless.He Served in the US Army in South Korea during the Korean War.After his discharge from the Army He returned Mineral Wells and worked as manager of a Full Service Texaco Station owned by Green Stoker.John and his childhood friend W. J. (Red) West purchased and operated John and Red's Texacofor over 45 years. Many people would not know John by his last name but would know him as"Texaco John".John and Juanita Robinson married in 1954 and shared that marriage for 64 Years until She passed away in 2018.A celebration of life will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, September 21, 2018 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel.John is survived by a son John W. Chambless Jr. and wife Ginger of Mineral Wells, TX., grandsons, Kenny and Kyle and wife Laura Chambless, great grandchildren, Eli and Chloe, sister Nancy (Billy) Woodruff of Greens Fork, Indiana, brother Pat (Andrya) Chambless of Fort Worth, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Claudia Smith, Julia Eisenburg and Doris Chambless.
