Joe Neil Knight

Joe Neil Knight, Age 78 of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2010. Joe was born to Willie "Bill" and Mary Jane Knight in Mineral Wells, Texas on April 22, 1932. After graduating from Mineral Wells High School in 1949, Joe enlisted in the United States Army and served our country during the Korean War. When he returned from Korea Joe began working at Bateman's, and Can-Tex. He then went on to work for TXU where he retired. He also retired from the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department after 20 years of service. In 1972 Joe met his wife of 38 years, Barbara Waugh they were married on September 28, 1972. Throughout his life, Joe loved to fish with his son, take vacations to the coast with his family, watch Friday Night football at Ram Stadium, listen to Country Western music, watch the Dallas Cowboys, and he became the neighborhood handy man.He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara (Waugh); son Christopher Knight of Mineral Wells; daughter Barbara Brinlee and husband Larry of Simpson, LA; Five grandchildren, Alyssa Knight, Naamon Barkley, Shelby Barkley, Erica Richardson (Joe), Larry Ward Brinlee (Judy); Six great grand children; one great great grandson; Two sisters, Francis Knight of Mineral Wells and Shirley Milliken of Mineral Wells; and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mary Jane Thomas-Knight, two brothers, Carl Knight and Kenneth Knight.The family will receive visitors at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 2nd , from 6 - 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, November 3rd at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1413 SE 16th St., Mineral Wells, TX, with interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery, Mineral Wells, TX.Pallbearers will be family and long-time friends; Christopher Knight, Melissa Waugh, Ralph Simmons, and Terry Ortiz of Mineral Wells, TX; Larry Brinlee of Simposon, LA, and Dwight Waugh of Rockport, TX.
