Jo "Evelyn" Brumfield, 91, of Weatherford, Texas, formerly of Mineral Wells, Texas, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 2, 2018. Born August 27, 1927, in Marquez, Texas, she is preceded in death by her parents, Cam and Agnes Downs, and husband, Stewart "Blake" Brumfield. A member of Indian Creek Baptist Church, Mineral Wells, Texas, Evelyn was a loving mother and homemaker. Her family was the center of her life. She was an excellent cook who made the best pies in Texas. Evelyn never ate a warm breakfast as she began each day with a long prayer. At one time she worked as manager of Payless Shoes and district manager of Marrs Shortstops in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was an avid reader. Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tim and Renea Snider, and son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Teresa Brumfield, both of Weatherford, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Blake Brumfield and wife Francesca, Tori Brumfield, Blake Weaver, and Tyler Weaver and wife Taylor. She has one great-grandchild, Chloe Weaver. She is also survived by her cousin Linette Seay of Judsonia, Arkansas. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 1:00 PM at Indian Creek Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Texas.
