Jim Louis Brumfield

Jim Louis Brumfield was born at home in Dora, New Mexico on September 20, 1935 to William Bailes Brumfield and Carrie Nihlas Brumfield and passed away on Tuesday February 4th 2025 surrounded by his family. He was the eighth of 10 children. On June 28, 1960, Jim married Rita Nadine Vick and together they had 8 children. Jim's life work was in Portales, New Mexico and centered on real estate, ranching, farming, and several business opportunities. Jim was active in his community, especially coaching little league basketball and baseball, having great success and leading several teams to city championships. Jim's life was focused on his faith in God and his love for his family. He spent the last years of his life spending time with his family, including vacations to Alaska, Niagara Falls and India. Holidays were always a favorite when the family would gather to spend time with each other. Jim was himself very athletic and competed in the New Mexico and National Senior Olympics, winning gold medals in the javelin and softball throw, second place in the 100 meter dash, and 4th place in high jump. Jim loved God and his family and was loved by his family more than words can express.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers, one son Wesley Lon Brumfield and one grandchild Jackson Book. He is survived by one sister, Addie Fulfer of Boise, Idaho, and one brother George Brumfield of Portales, New Mexico as well as his children and in-laws. Steven Brumfield of Portales, Roy Brumfield of Andrews, Texas, Jeff and his wife Lalitha Brumfield of Mineral Wells, Tx, Susy Wildes and her husband Billy of Garland, Tx, Christine Daly and her husband Jeff of Dallas, Tx, Gary Brumfield and his wife Jamie of Phoenix Arizona, and Tiffany Fox and her husband Cody of Burleson, Tx. In addition there are fifteen grandchildren; Stephanie Brumfield, Ally Brumfield, Cody Brumfield, Brody Brumfield , Montanna Becchina, David Guthrie, Brian Brumfield, Megan Book, Haley Schreiber, Hannah Ashley, Jonathan Brumfield, Dylan Daly, Brandon Daly, Isabella Brumfield, Caden Fox and 12 great-grandchildren: Aiden Aguilar, Nathaniel Aguilar, Greyson Ramos, Neveah Andrews, Austin Andrews, Ruby Guthrie, Lexi Guthrie, Marilyn Book, Aiden Ashley, Emma Ashley, Liam Ashley and Maevis Brumfield.

 Funeral for Jim Brumfield will be held Saturday February 8th at 2:00 pm at the Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells Texas with William Eudy and Billy Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Portales Cemetery on Tuesday February 11th at 10:00 am. Pallbearers will be Steven Brumfield, Roy Brumfield, Jeff Brumfield, Gary Brumfield, Dylan Daly, Brandon Daly, Cody Brumfield, and Brody Brumfield.
