Jesse Ray Crook, 77, of Mineral Wells, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday at the South Side Church of Christ with Minister William Eudy and Minister Scott Sheppard officiating. Interment will be at the Sturdivant Cemetery with Noel Carter, J. C. Clark, J. R. Patterson, Glen Quinn, Dheryl Sherrill, and Robert Wheeler serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday. Ray was born July 13, 1930, in Chattanooga, OK, the son of Clint Warren and Clara Jane Armstrong Crook. He was a minister with the Church of Christ serving since 1954 with the Churches of Christ in Iredell, Shamrock, McGregor, Graham, and Madras, OR. He was the minister of the South Side Church of Christ from July of 1970 until 1995, when he retired the first time. Afterwards he ministered in the Churches of Christ in Graford then Santo until 2007. The family suggest memorials be made to the Foster Children's Home in Stephenville or the South Side Church of Christ Building Fund. Survivors include his wife, Reta Crook of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Crook of Mineral Wells, Jay and Rebecca Crook of Corpus Christi and Russell and Jill Crook of Cleburne; grandchildren, Ryan Roden and his wife Alyssa of Lewisville, Lyndi Roden of Abilene and Sierra, Sheyenne and Gray Crook all of Corpus Christi; sister, Lorene Parton of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Lavon Crook and wife Lorena of Lawton, OK; several nieces and nephews.
