Jeannine Merrifield passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

 

She is survived by her husband, Edmon of Graford, daughters Jeannifer Whitaker of Whitney and Julie Barnes (Jerry Martin) of China Spring;  sister Lisa Bowden (John) of Centerton, AR and step-daughters Lori Sewell and Leah Matkin of Gainesville and step-son Bobby Cotton (Brandee) of Van; grandchildren Hadly and Wyatt Whitaker, Colton Dixon, Levi Millhollon, Paige Cole, Kaleb Sewell, Madison York, Kenzli Matkin, and Tanis, Skylar and Reece Cotton; as well as 8 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Barnes; parents, Gene and Norma Thompson; and brother David Thompson.

 

Jeannine was born on November 14, 1950 in Big Spring, TX and grew up in Snyder where her family owned and operated Thompson’s Shoe Store.  She graduated from Snyder High School in 1969. Jeannine married the love of her life, Edmon, and they spent over 40 years together. Some of Jeannine’s favorite activities were spending time at PK Lake with friends and watching her grandchildren in their various sports and activities. 

 

The family wishes to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Palo Pinto General Hospital for their medical care and kindness during her stay.
