Jan Mark Garland

Jan Mark Garland, 74, entered into rest on October 27, 2023. Jan was born on July 9, 1949, to Wickleff Garland and Hazel Marie (Blankenship) Garland Parker in Mineral Wells Texas. 

Jan started working at a young age and spent 55 years as a carpenter. He was an avid outdoorsman. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and gardening. He also loved to cook and eat. “The Cafe“ in Graford, Texas was his favorite restaurant, and he always ordered the catfish. He loved spending time at his home at Garland Bend in Graford. He spent years as a Boy Scout leader for his son’s troop. He was also a lifetime supporter of the NRA.

Everyone who knew him said he was the hardest-working man they knew. He was dependable and would give you the shirt off his back. He treated everyone the same, whether it was the janitor or the CEO of a company.  He had a quick wit and a humorous personality. He loved his family more than anything.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Eugene, Charles Allen, Reginald, and sisters Ruth, Doreen, Louise, and Judy.
 
He is survived by his children Gary (Charity), Jana Michelle (Tray), and Mark (Nikki); stepchildren Cindy, Teresa, Brittney, and Cory; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother Rick and sister Joyce and several nieces and nephews; and life-long friends he considered family, Rick and LaDelle Rogers
   
We are sure he arrived at the pearly gates on a four-wheeler ready to momma shop!

The family will meet at the river on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 10-12 and have a private ceremony. After that they will be at Main Street Events at 204 Main Street in Graford for a meal from 12-3 and visitation from 3-6.
