James Luther Waddy, 54, of Lufkin, TX passed peacefully from this life on February 25, 2018. The funeral service will be held 2 pm on Saturday, March 3rd at the First Presbyterian Church, Mineral Wells, TX. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Friday, March 2nd at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Burial will be at Woodland Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral. James was born in Mineral Wells on February 16, 1964 to his very proud parents Frank and Lynn (Tompkins) Waddy. James resided at Lufkin State Supported Living Center (LSSLC) where he enjoyed the many opportunities for friendship, education and training. He was very proud to work as a janitor where he could be found sweeping while listening to his ever favorite Tammy Wynette's "Greatest Hits." For many years, James enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and medaling in the 50-yard dash. His family will be forever grateful for the love and care provided by the very dedicated team at LSSLC. Family and friends have always been important to James. He treasured his many travels through the United States especially for the Waddy Cousins Reunions. He was often seen checking his watch to see when his next big adventure would be or reminiscing over his photobooks. James is survived by parents Frank and Lynn Waddy; sister and brother -in-law Deborah (Waddy) and Gary Cates; nephew Michael Jameson, niece and husband Chelsea and Andrew Morales; great niece Luciana Layne Morales and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Luther and Gertrude (Brandyberry) Waddy; maternal grandparents Morris and Juanita (Whitlock) Tompkins; cousin Aaron Layne Dodson and great nephew John Isaac Morales.
