James Stone

d. January 1, 1900

James "Jim" Stone passed through the gates of Heaven in the early morning of January 29, 2014. He had fought long and hard to stay on earth as long as he could. He was such a happy and spiritual man, he touched the lives of everyone he knew, and cared about everyone he met so very much. He had been battling cancer for 2 years and sadly he lost that battle. Before he left he shared with his family about glimpses of heaven that he had been experiencing. That is amazing to be able to be here on earth to say your goodbyes to everyone, but at the same time seeing your Father, your Savior Jesus Christ, your Creator, the streets of gold, the excitement, the energy, and the happy thrill of joy and knowing that heaven is for real.Graveside services will be 2 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 at Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 PM in the funeral home annex.Jim married the love of his life Soozy on February 28, 1976, they have a great love. They were blessed with three children, Jennifer married to Tom Westbrook, Christine married to Tim Easter, and Jeremiah Stone engaged to Megan Arnel. Jim is so proud of his 3 grandchildren Makayla Sager, Kyndal Sager, and Taytum Westbrook. Jim still had the blessing of having around his mother Marilyn Stone, his sister Kathy married to Robert Masterson, brother Bill married to Tami Stone, and mother-in-law and good friend Anita Powell. He had several nieces, nephews, and other family members that he cherished as well. Jim also loved his horse Gabe and specifically mentioned him in his last conversations.Jim worked for the City of Mineral Wells for 15 years. He loved his job, even when that included fixing water leaks when it was freezing outside.
