James C. Stevenson, 84, passed away April 26, 2015 in Mineral Wells. He was born September 3, 1930 in Pickwick the son of James Claude Sr. and Lola Epsie Wester Stevenson. He married Ernestine Rea on March 14, 1953 in Tell. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 52 years having served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He taught school in Mineral Wells for 30 years. He taught school in the Texas Panhandle for 4 years. Teaching kids was his passion. He loved to spend time with his family. When his sons were young he loved to take them hunting, fishing, and camping. He spent more time studying the bible than anything else. Services will be 2 PM Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in McAdams Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife: Ernestine Stevenson of Mineral Wells, sons and daughters-in-law: Tom and Tammy Stevenson of Mineral Wells, James Rea and Lynn Stevenson of Arlington, grandchildren and spouses: Ben and Lauren Stevenson of Denver, Colorado, Andrew and Mary Stevenson of Arlington, Aaron and Stephanie Stevenson of Hockley, Sarah Stevenson of Mineral Wells, great-granddaughter: Emma Grace Stevenson of Hockley, sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Charles Kitterman of Cayuga, Marjorie and Curtis Garvin of Texarkana and 3 sisters-in-law, and 1 brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents: mother-in-law and father-in-law: Ernest and Edna Rea, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 nephew, and 1 niece.
