James Simpson

James Preston "Pierpont" Simpson, Age 85, was born on July 24, 1932, to James Preston Simpson and Edna Mae Wood Simpson in Cleburne, Texas. He was the youngest of 5 siblings. After a long struggle with cancer, he passed away peacefully at 8:17 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Universal Hospice Hospital. He was surrounded by his family when he passed. Jim was an air traffic controller at Fort Wolters US Army Helicopter School in Mineral Wells, Texas for 7 years before being hired by the FAA at Houston Center from 1966-1976 and Fort Worth Center from 1976-1991. He retired after 25 years. He had many interests including golf, fishing, hunting, cooking, reading, and playing boar/card games. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Simpson (Keller, Tx), daughters Teena Clayton (Leesburg, Va), Linda Bearce, (husband Mike Bearce of Watauga, Tx), 4 grandchildren; Brennan Michael Bearce (Keller, Tx), Blake Preston Bearce (wife Cassie Bearce of Austin, Tx), Josephine Clayton Boyle, Clayton James Boyle, and 4 great grandchildren; Alexis Leann Bearce, Atreyu James Bearce, Braxton Bond Bearce, and Makenna Grace Bearce. Memorial services will be held at Baum Carlock Baumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, Texas on February 10, 2018, at 10:00 am with graveside services to follow in Whitt, Texas. There will be a visitation/reception immediately following at Indian Creek Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, Texas.
