James Franklin "Jim" Herring, Jr., 86, of Oran, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009, in a Mineral Wells hospital. Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with burial at the Junction Cemetery in Junction, TX, 10 am Wednesday. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday. Mr. Herring was born March 5, 1923 in Junction, the son of James Franklin, Sr. and Hazel O. Kane Herring. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a Baptist. He married Margie Hunsucker, March 6, 1948 in Junction and moved to Oran in 1952. He was a rancher, a 50 year member of the Perrin Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church in Perrin. Survivors include his wife, Margie Herring of Oran; sons, James Herring, III of Graford and Mark Herring of Denver, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Taylor of Santo; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helene Stanberry of Irving, Joyce Scott of Victoria and Jo Ann Schaefer and husband, C.W. of Junction; numerous nieces and nephews.
