Jakie Long

Jakie Lincoln Long, 80, passed away April 10, 2011 in a Mineral Wells hospital. He was born July 31, 1930 in Palo Pinto County the son of Ed and Bettie Layton Long. He was a lifetime resident of Palo Pinto County. He married Dorothy Gatlin on July 30, 1949 in Graford. He was a member of Abundant Life Church of Graford. He served on the Graford ISD School Board for the past 40 years and was the current president. He retired from the Brazos River Authority after 43 years. He was one of the founders of the Possum Kingdom East Side Fire Department. He was a veteran of the US Marines having served in the Korean War. Services will be 3 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Graford High School Gymnasium. Burial will follow in McAdams Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home annex. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Long of Possum Kingdom Lake, Sons and daughter-in-law: Shane and Linda Long of Graford, Coty Long of Arlington, and grandchildren: Keith, Katy and Seth Long of Graford.
