Jacquelyn Ferguson was born 86 years ago, December 13, 1922, to Effie Pearl and Hal Burton Tibbs in Mineral Wells, Texas. She resided there for 24 years and was active in all phases of church life in the First Baptist Church. As a member of the choir, Jackie was alto soloist and was a leader in the Young Women's Association. After graduating from Mineral Wells High School, she attended Weatherford College.In 1942 she met Robert Ferguson head of Officer Personnel at Camp Wolters. In 1947 they married at the First Baptist Church. She then moved to Fort Scott, Kansas, where Bob was news editor for The Daily Tribune.In 1949 a son, Robert Mark, was born to this union in St. Charles, Missouri. In 1991 Mark passed away in Chicago, where he had an architectural firm. In 2007 Mark was re-interred in Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells where his mother will now rest beside him.In 1956 Jackie moved with her husband to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was employed in Management Development for the McDonnell Aircraft Company. Here she was active in church music and women's organizations. In 1969 she was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis and could no long participate in business, church, or social activities. For many years her debilitating illness limited travel and social activities.In 1980 husband Bob took early retirement from the McDonnell Douglas Corporation, and they moved to the Orlando area, where the warm climate was more comfortable for her. While she was not able to participate in volunteer work with her husband, she accompanied him regularly on his route to deliver Meals-on-Wheels in the Orlando area.The twenty-first century brought new medications that relieved the worst of her rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, and for the past ten years, she was able to enjoy a broader family and social life. In 2006 Jackie and bob moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to her sister Mary Sue Winton and her family. She has enjoyed her life for the past three years at the Summit at Northwest Hills and her many friendships there.Those who knew Jackie will always remember her very positive and "up-beat" persona as she dealt with her illness. She loved people, and her warm regard for others was like a ray of sunshine around her. She will always be remembered with admiration by those who knew her.Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Friday, June 19, 2009 at Woodland Park Cemetery with Rev. Lonnie DeArmond officiating. She passed away June 16, 2009 in a Austin hospital.Besides her husband, Jackie is survived by two sisters, Mac Ella Davis of Largo, Florida, and Mary Sue Winton of Austin, Texas, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
