J. Dews

J. C. Dews, 98, passed away July 14, 2010 at his home in Mineral Wells. He was born June 12, 1912 in Garner the son of Fred and Dona Simkins Dews. He was a longtime resident of Mineral Wells. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He pastored three times at Mount Home Baptist Church in Jacksboro, and pastored at Central Baptist Church in Sweetwater. He married Mattie Lorene Maddux on March 6, 1932 in Weatherford. He married Jealeta Maddux on October 24, 2001 in Mineral Wells. Services will be 2 PM Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Rock Creek Baptist church with Rev. Carl Clinton officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife: Jealeta Dews of Mineral Wells, daughter: Freddie Harrington of Mineral Wells, son and daughter-in-law: Bill and Judy Dews of Mineral Wells, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson born on his 98th birthday, 3 step-sons, and sisters: Gladys Himes of Weatherford, and Lois Creed of Burleson. He was preceded in death by his first wife in January of 1996, and 2 bothers.
