Ida Mae Spurlock

July 3, 1931 — June 26, 2023

Ida Mae, also known to many as “Peggy”, went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2023. She was 91 years young. She was born in Mineral Wells, Texas on July 3, 1931 to Luke and Bessie Ballenger. She was the youngest of 4 children. Ida was a loving, wonderful, and devoted wife, mother, and Granny to her family which she loved so much. She will be dearly missed by all. On July 3, 1952, in Mineral Wells, Ida married the love of her life, Robert M. Spurlock. Together they raised 5 children prior to his death in 1995. Ida was an amazing cook and did so for her family every chance she got. Ida was a member of the PTA at Progress School and PTO in Santo when her children were young. In her later years, after Robert passed away she volunteered at SNC in Ft. Worth and formed great friendships with the residents there. She was so proud to be named as Volunteer of the Year and wore her pin proudly. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Spurlock; parents, Luke and Bessie Ballenger; brothers, Fritz L. Ballenger and J.L. (Winkie) Ballenger; as well as a sister, Louise (Ballenger) Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Eli Pyle and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors include her children, Buster Spurlock and wife Kadon of Lone Camp, Earl Spurlock and wife Nita of Mineral Wells, Viola Boydstun and husband Danny of Mineral Wells, Almeta Rico and husband Martin of Weatherford, and Tressa; grandchildren, Billie Keaton, Robert E and Katlyn Spurlock, Jonathan Sims, Justin and Daniel Boydstun, Heather Blakley, McCain Brock, Justin Rico, Josh and Kody Randall; great-grandchildren, Danny Keaton, Jr., Amya Blakley, John Sims and Kyndle Sterns, Hayden, Colton, and Emeli Randall; Holden, Kaylee, and Peyton Boydstun; Izabella and Hunter Brock; Knox and Ryser Rico; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank Solaris Hospice for their care and a very special thank you to the staff at Weatherford Health Care for all the love and excellent care they gave Miss Ida. We are forever grateful for you all. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Lone Camp Community Center.
