Hugh Thomas Magers 98 of Mineral Wells passed away at his residence on March 20, 2012. Hugh was born in Alvord, Texas the son of Alfred Sr. and Fannie Pace Magers. He attended Breckenridge High School and went on to Texas A&M and graduated in 1937. He married Hazel Gilbert on May 28, 1938 at the First Baptist Church in Dobbs Valley. Hugh worked for the Soil Conservation Service from 1937 until 1974; after retiring he moved to Dobbs Valley to farm. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells and was also involved in the Prime Timers at the church. The visitation will be one hour before the funeral service from 2-3 P.M on Saturday March 24, 2012; at the First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, burial will be at Dobbs Valley Cemetery. Survivors are son James Hugh and wife Joan Magers; daughter, Sarah and husband Larry Brown; brother C A Magers; grandchildren, Laura and husband Raymond Miller and Clare and husband Chris Ritzi; great-grandchildren, Megan and Sarah Miller, Catherine and Teresa Ritzi; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Hazel Magers in 2007; brother, Austin Magers and sisters Luvenia Lyons and Joyce Tomlinson. In lieu of flowers the families ask that donations be made to Palo Pinto Challenge, Inc. P.O. Box 115, Strawn, Texas 76475 or Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County, 1410 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Mineral Wells, Texas 76067. The family would like to also thank Dr. Kevin Jones, caregivers Ramona Evans, Rickie Cantrell, Integra Care RN Lorie Lewis, Jeanie and Gigi for all the special care and support.
