Horace McGinnis

Horace "Jr." McGinnis 70 of Mineral Wells passed away after a brief illness. Born in Starkville, Mississippi the son of the late Horace McGinnis Sr. and Francis Upchurch McGinnis. Jr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather; and too many he was a friend, mentor, and employer in the Mineral Wells area. He left a distinct impression on anyone he came in contact with; whether it is through being employed by him or a casual conversation with him in crossing paths. He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back as long as you put it to proper use. He indeed will be missed by so many in his community. He leaves behind wife: Edith McGinnis; sons: Bodie McGinnis and wife Kelly and Allen McGinnis; daughters: Sherri McGinnis and husband Greg Johnson, Scarlette Morgan and husband David; grandchildren: Brandon McGinnis and wife Brandy, Crystal Forbes, Taylor Morgan, Kassidy Morgan, Chelsea Morgan and Sara Mendez and husband Jonathan; great-great grandchildren: Braley McGinnis, Preston Mendez, Braylon McGinnis, Liam Mendez, Case Johnson, Jetz Ahra Johnson and Ava McGinnis; step-children: Michael Johnson and wife Mary and Eric Johnson and wife Chelsea and best friend Joe Ray Irvin; brother: Paul McGinnis and wife Helen along with their children, Chuck and Scott McGinnis. He was preceded in death by parents Horace Sr. and wife Francis, L.T McGinnis, Freeman McGinnis and Tutler and Mary McGinnis. Visitation will be Friday January 11th from 6-8PM in the chapel; funeral service is Saturday January 12th at 2PM at the First Baptist Church; burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
