Hersey Paul Mayeux Jr., 83, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 12, 1931 in Marksville, Louisiana the son of Hersey Paul Sr. and Orpha Fontenelle Mayeux. He came to Mineral Wells in 1959 where he was stationed at Ft. Wolters. Paul served in the US Army for over 20 years. After his retirement in 1968 he went to work for Southern Airways. He spent 5 years there and then went to work for Brazos River Gas Company where he retired after 20 years. On August 15, 1972 he married the love of his life Faye, also known as "My Baby". Paul loved volunteering in the community. He served lunches at the Senior Center for 25 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for over 30 years. He never met a stranger. He loved visiting with anyone who had a story to share. You could mention a name and he could tell you their address, who their family was and at least one story about them. Perhaps one of his favorite times was Rodeo Season in Mineral Wells when he volunteered at the Jail and Bail. He volunteered for the Downtown Merchants Association for over 20 years. Services will be 2 PM Thursday, November 13, 2014 at First Baptist Church. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by children and spouses: Amber Chavira of Mineral Wells, Kay and Tom Metzger of Kissimmee, Florida, Terry and Ron Rudolf of Ft. Peirce, Florida, Bob and Lucille MAyeux of Parkertown, New Jersey, and Hersey Mayeux III of Town Lawn, New Jersey, grandchildren: David "Bubba" Gonzales, Eddy Wayne Blue, April Moody, Wesley Massey, Kary Logan, Dustin Mayeux, Trisha Mayeux, and Kuiann Leeds, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
