HC "Buddy" Powell married his beloved wife Anita Powell on January 15, 1951. This perfect union was blessed with three children; Nathalie, wife to Joe Kelley, Soozy, wife to James Stone, and Kenney Powell married to Kimberly. Buddy and Anita have been blessed with these wonderful grandchildren, Erick Lewis and wife Robbie, Joshua Kelley and wife Shawna, and Stephen Kelley; Jennifer Westbrook and husband Tom, Christine and Jeremiah Stone; Chad Taylor and wife Barbara, Bradley and Anthony Powell, Shaughn Childers and wife Devon, Patrick Childers and wife Brandy. The blessing continued to come through the great-grandchildren Jack, Caleb, and Ean Lewis; Brian Hasting and Aly Kelley; Makayla and Kyndal Sager and Taytum Westbrook; Temperance Taylor; Elizabeth Childers. Buddy Powell, a man of tremendous quality, loves his wife with his whole heart, she is his queen and she returns the love to him in great measures. His children are his precious treasures that he loves and adores; the grandchildren and great-grandchildren are richly blessed by their Papa. Buddy Powell studied art at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and has produced a number of paintings. He was a Mineral Wells City Councilmen, Mayor Pro-tem, and Director of Public Works for Mineral Wells for many years. On Monday, March 4, 2013 Buddy Powell became an upstanding member of the Kingdom of Heaven as he left this world. He may have left this world, but he most defiantly left his mark. His has left so many positive impacts and he has left a legacy of love and joy that has set a new standard. His presence here will be greatly missed. But when you look around town, at his friends or family, a bit of him will still be enjoyed. Services will be 10 AM Thursday, March 7, 2013 in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
