Hazel Jean Reedy

Hazel Jean Reedy, beloved wife, mother and valued member of the community passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, at the age of 88.  She was born on Novembere 11, 1935 in Mineral Wells, Texas to her loving parents, Richard Albert Eli Snow and Annie Lee Snow.

Hazel spent her life as a full-time homemaker, caring for her husband, children and grandchildren in her later years.  Hazel spent her life doing things such as sewing, canning, baking and used those gifts to support youth education.  Serving as an Adult Leader for the 4-H program in Palo Pinto County as well as on the Palo Pinto County Fair Board.  Hazel became a 4-H Adult Leader in 1970 where she went on to be one of the founding members of the Palo Pinto County Fair which she countinued to support for many years.  She also was a member of the Palo Pinto County Extension Homemaker's Club which was formed in 1980 and disbanned in 2021. Hazel was also a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Hazel's greatest pride was in her family, she married George Alton Reedy on Agusut 25, 1951.  They were blessed with two sons, two daughters, five grandson, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Her entire family referred to her as "Grandma" which is a name and title she cherished.

Hazel is preceded in death by son, Lloyd Alton and her husband, George Alton.  She is survived by her son George Eldon (Elaine) Reedy, as well as daughters Joanna Lea (David) Slimp and Alta Jean (Mike) Hopkins.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Jason (Jamie) Reedy, Brian (Amanda) Slimp, Robert (Alicia) Slimp, Matthew Hopkins and Jared (Haley) Hopkins.  Her great-grandchildren Logan Reedy, Braelyn Slimp, Hunter Slimp, Jesse Slimp, Ryder Burrow, Olivia Stoker, Lillie Slimp, Colby Slimp, Hazel Slimp, and Hallie Hopkins.  Great-Grandchild Laken Shaver.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service to remember Hazel will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 9:00 a.m. at Baum-Carllock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be Friday, April 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Final resting place will be at Indian Creek Cemetery,  Hazel will be laid to rest surrounded by the beautiful landscape and bluebonnets may she rest in eternal peace. 

Her legacy of hard work, compassion and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.  
Her grandsons will serve as Pall Barers along with her Great Nephew.
