Hayward Hubert Nolen, born November 9, 1941 in Tifton, Georgia, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 and was received into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a caring and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Hayward enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960, where he spent 10 years faithfully serving his country.
On November 9, 1973, Hayward married a beautiful girl by the name of Anna Kathryn Harrell, and together they had two children, Renee and Shawn. They spent the next 40 years working in the ministry, serving as Youth/Children's Pastors, Associate Pastors and Senior Pastors.
A Renaissance man of sorts, there was nothing Hayward couldn’t do. He built churches, homes, sewed pageant dresses and clothes for his family and was a successful gardener. Whenever a need would present itself, no matter what it was, great or small, either in his life, or the lives of others, Hayward would fix it.
He carried many job titles over his life and wore many hats. One of the most impressive and rewarding positions was working for Mineral Wells ISD, first as a substitute teacher, then was hired as a paraprofessional for the CTE department, and finally at 72 years old, became a certified teacher and taught the Building Trades class. He touched and impacted many lives before he retired at the age of 76. He spent the rest of his life as an active, happy husband, Dad and Grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Nolen, and his wife, Anna Nolen. He is succeeded in life by his daughter Renee Hudnell, grandsons Colin and Brendan Hudnell, sisters, Inez West and Sandra White of Alabama and Georgia, and brother-in-law, Bill Harrell of Mineral Wells.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 6-8pm at Cityview Community Church 3800 Ram Blvd Mineral Wells Texas. Funeral services will be held the following day at 10am at the same location, with interment to follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
