Harry E. Pruitt, 97, passed away Jan. 22, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Born June 12, 1918, in Jermyn, TX to Milton B. and Charlottie Beck Pruitt , he was next to the youngest in a family of 11 children. He worked on the family farm until after high school graduation then moved to San Diego to work in the aircraft industry there before and during WWII. After the war, he returned to Texas and worked for Kadane Oil Co. in Wichita Falls, TX where he met and married Erjuana Lambert in 1947. They moved to Frederick, OK in 1960 and raised their family there then returned to Mineral Wells, TX where they resided until moving to Perry, OK in 2008. After her death in 2013, Harry moved to Tealridge Independent Living Center in Edmond, OK. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers & sisters, Harry is survived by his son, Harry E. Pruitt, Jr., Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Amelia, and husband, Cliff, of Edmond, OK & his two grandchildren, Robert C.Lyle IV and wife, Jessica, and Abbey K. Lyle, of Dallas as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Harry was a member of the Church of Christ and served many years as a deacon. He loved gardening, fishing, working crossword puzzles, watching wrestling and playing dominoes. But most of all he loved being with his family. Graveside services will be at Graceland Cemetery in Jermyn, TX on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 1 pm. A memorial service for friends & family will be held at Tealridge Independent Living Center on Friday, Jan 29 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, OKC, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or a charity of choice.
